Harrison, Mehl Consult on Japan Relief

March 31, 2011 — LCMS President Matthew C. Harrison speaks with Rev. John Mehl (in Hong Kong) via Skype about the situation in Japan. Mehl, LCMS World Mission Regional Director for Asia, was in Tokyo meeting with leaders from the Japan Lutheran Church, an LCMS partner church, to help plan a coordinated relief strategy.

LCMS President announces grants for Japan

President Harrison announces that The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is sending $200,000 to two Japanese Lutheran church bodies and he encourages everyone to respond with prayer and financial support for our brothers and sisters suffering from the effects of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

LCMS Japan Disaster Relief "War Room"

President Harrison led the discussion this morning at the second disaster relief “war room” meeting at the International Center since the quake and tsunami hit last Friday.
